BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Olivet Nazarene University Head Football Coach Mike Conway announced that Jordan Armstrong has joined his staff as the offensive coordinator for the Tigers.
Armstrong returns to ONU after spending last season as the offensive coordinator and wide receiver coach at East Texas Baptist University. He served as a graduate assistant for the ONU Tigers from 2019-2021, where he worked primarily with wide receivers.
"I am grateful to Coach Conway for the opportunity for my family and I to return to Olivet," said Artmstrong. "I am excited to help lead this offense - I learned a lot under the leadership of Coach [Eric] Hehman and Coach [Calvin] Renfroe, as well as many other great coaches during my time at ONU and I look forward to being under Coach Conway to that."
"ONU holds a very special place in our hearts. We are blessed to be able to continue to build relationships with the student athletes and staff here."
In 2022 at East Texas Baptist, Armstrong coordinated an offense that threw for over 1,800 yards and scored 43 points in their final game of the season. In Armstrong's lone season at ETBU, the Tigers went 5-5 and closed out the season on a three-game winning streak.
Prior to ETBU, Armstrong spent the spring of 2022 as the wide receivers coach at Findlay University, an NCAA Division II program located in Findlay, Ohio.
During his first coaching run at ONU, Armstrong helped the Tigers to their best record in program history in 2020. That year's squad went 8-1, winning the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Midwest League Conference Championship outright and qualifying for the NAIA National Playoffs for the first time in over 20 years.
In two seasons at ONU, six of Armstrong's wide receivers earned All-MSFA awards while Jalen Dunnigan and Brian Jenkins both earned All-American honors.
"We are extremely excited to have Jordan rejoin the coaching staff here at ONU as the offensive coordinator," said Conway. "He is a bright, innovative coach and an outstanding recruiter who has a familiarity with our players. More importantly, he is a great role model and young man of God who strongly supports the mission of ONU Athletics."
Armstrong played collegiate football at NCAA Division II Fairmont State University as a defensive back, appearing in 23 games over three seasons for the Falcons. A three-time All-Dade County selection at Felix Varela Senior High School, Armstrong set the school passing record with over 3,000 passing yards over his career. He also rushed for over 1,000 yards while scoring over 40 career touchdowns.
Armstrong graduated from Fairmont State University in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in Communications. He then earned his Master's of Organizational Leadership from Olivet Nazarene University in 2021.
