COOK AND FREEMAN EARN MSFA PLAYERS OF THE WEEK HONORS

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – In the final week of voting, Olivet Nazarene University football players Jason Freeman and Brayden Cook won the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Midwest Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Week, respectively.  The league announced their selections on Monday afternoon.  Freeman won his fourth honor this season and third in the past four weeks and Cook won his first career honor. 

 

A native of Zion, Ill., Freeman had another stellar week for the Tigers.  In the 14-7 win against Roosevelt, Freeman totaled 21 tackles and notched a tackle-for-loss for a half-of-a-yard.  Freeman also intercepted Laker quarterback Jack Sheehan on their final possession to seal a Tiger win.  The Tiger linebacker returned that pick for 47-yards. 

 

A native of Wheaton, Ill., Cook had a standout game for the Tigers on special teams.  Cook blocked a punt by Laker punter Tyler Haase on the RU 19-yard line that was returned for a touchdown by Lucas Eckles.  Additionally, Cook amassed three tackles and quarterback hurry. 

 

The Tigers ended their season 7-3 and was 5-2 in the MSFA Midwest Division.
