FREEMAN EARNS MSFA AND NAIA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

BOURBONNAIS, Ill.  – The RV Olivet Nazarene University linebacker Jason Freeman won his third Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Defensive Player of the Week honor as the leagues announced their selections on Monday.  This is also the second time in the last three weeks that Freeman has garnered this honor.  Additionally, Freeman won the prestigious National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in his career.

The Zion, Ill. native had a near record-setting game against Trinity International on Saturday.  Freeman gathered 31 total tackles, which is good for second all-time in program history and was two shy of tying the school record set in 1983.  Additionally, Freeman tallied five quarterback hurries and a pair of tackles-for-loss.   Currently, Freeman leads the NAIA with 139 total tackles and also tackles a game with 15.4.

The Tigers conclude their regular season on Saturday, November 13th on Senior Day against the Roosevelt University Lakers.  Kickoff at Ward Field is set for 1 p.m.
