BULTHUIS MOVES INTO SECOND ALL-TIME IN PROGRAM HISTORY FOR CAREER HITS AS TIGERS WIN AT LINCOLN

LINCOLN, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University baseball team hung 19 runs on the scoreboard as they defeated the Lynx of Lincoln College 19-2 Friday night. Jacob Bulthuis batted in four runs off of a three-for-four performance from the plate. The outfielder's hits included a double an RBI triple in the 6th inning an RBI double in the 7th.

Bulthuis put the Tigers on the scoreboard first as an RBI single in the first inning opened the scoring. Lincoln quickly tied the game up in the bottom half of the inning. ONU broke the game open with six runs in the second inning and the seventh run in the third. After the Lynx scored their last run of the day in the bottom of the third inning, Olivet streaked for 10 unanswered runs to put the game away.

Every batter for the Tigers registered multiple hits on the day. Robert Jackman, Bulthuis, and Kai Hudson each had three. Outside of Bulthuis' four RBIs, Tyler Wheeler and Donovan Yelle drove in three RBIs. Both of Alex Ortiz's hits landed him at second base while Hudson and Yelle recorded doubles as well. Gunnar Pullins hit his third triple on the year. Wheeler hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning, his 11th for the season and moves into sole possession of first in the conference as the home run leader.

Matthew Cousino took the mound as the starting pitch lasting three innings with two strikeouts. Noah Harder, Ethan Underwood, and Peyton Bovie combined for the remaining four innings with eight strikeouts, two walks, and no runs.

The Purple and Gold extend their NAIA-leading winning streak to 21 games. Bultuis has moved into second place in program history in hits with 244 for a new career total.

The Tigers will finish up the final two games of the three-game series with Lincoln tomorrow with a doubleheader.
