WARREN, Mich. - Olivet Nazarene University (ONU) women's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw on the road Saturday against Rochester Christian University. A quick exchange of goals in the first half defined the contest, as the Tigers secured their second tie of the season.
The Tigers struck first in the 20th minute when Mia Kelly netted her first goal of the season off a well-placed assist from Aaliyah Racadio-Kahoohanohano. The lead was short-lived, however, as the Warriors responded quickly, scoring just over a minute later in the 21st minute to even the match at 1-1. Both teams pressed for more in the remainder of the half, but the defenses held firm, leaving the game tied heading into halftime.
The second half saw both teams battling to find a go-ahead goal, with the Tigers pushing forward and creating several chances. Despite the pressure from ONU's attack, Rochester Christian's defense stood tall, and neither team could capitalize on their opportunities. The Tigers' backline also stood tall, ensuring that the game ended in a hard-fought 1-1 draw.
Looking Ahead
ONU will return home for their next matchup on September 21st, when they host the Crimson Wave of Calumet College of St. Joseph. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. CST, as the Tigers seek to secure their first win of the season.
