BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Tigers matched up against the Cougars of Cleary University for their first home game since the 2019 season. With a well-rounded approach to both games, the Tigers would sweep the doubleheader to rebound after back-to-back losses.

In the first game of the day, Kori Fricke (SO/Manteno, Ill.) let in a single run in the first inning but would make up for it by batting in Sara Beers (SR/Greenwood, Ind. ) in the top half of the inning. Before moving into the second inning, the Tigers jumped out to a three-one lead. From there the Tigers added a run in each of the next two innings. In the second, Kate Landis (JR/Beecher, Ill.) scored on a fielding error, and in the third Landis would be the one to drive in Alli Davis (SR/Mount Zion, Ill. ) on a double. In the fourth inning, the Cougars managed to drive in two runs to make the game interesting, but when Miranda Southall (SR/Wilmington, Ill.) stepped in as a relief pitcher, the Cougars were silenced. Then in the bottom of the sixth, Sara Beers doubled to score Landis to cement the game a six-three victory.

After a brief intermission, the Tigers quickly took control of the second game. Katie Marker (JR/Yorkville, Ill. ) threw a great game from the mound with zero runs scored and only three hits coming from the Cougars. Offensively Marker led the way as well with three runs and an RBI, on four-for-four from the plate. Adding to the scoresheet, Alli Davis and Miranda Southall both launched home runs beyond the centerfield fence to put a stamp on the game. Facing little resistance, the Tigers would win game two eight-zero in five innings.
