JOLIET, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's track and field traveled to Joliet Memorial Stadium for its final tune-up before the NAIA National Championships and competed in the USF Fighting Chance Invite on Friday and Saturday. The Tigers turned in many "A" and "B" qualifying standard performances in the two-day meet.
The Tigers got off to a great start in the track events as they saw Vince Giuliano achieve the "B" qualifying standard in the 100-meter dash after he clocked a time of 10.64 seconds. Jalen Dunnigan finished sixth in the race with a time of 10.76 seconds. Andrew Hudson kept up the pace for the Tigers as he achieved the "A" qualifying standard in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.31. With that time, Hudson placed third. In the relays, the team of Giuliano, Dunnigan, Hudson, and Esau Haynes finished second place in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 41.62 seconds. The Tigers then finished third in the 4x400 and earned the "B" qualifying standard with a time of 3:16.66. To conclude the relays, the team of Ethan Hodel, Hayden Colclasure, Erik Richter, and Max Grant achieved the "B" qualifying standard in the 4x800 with a time of 7:45.35.
To start the field events, Noah Sears won the pole vault with a final height of 4.70m, which is good for a "B" qualifying standard and is currently tied for 16th in the nation. In the Discus, Daniel DeRamus finished third with a throw of 45.28m. Brody Vollrath concluded the throwing events with a third-place finish in the javelin throw with a mark of 50.82m.
