TIGERS SEE STRONG PERFORMANCES AT THE DON MCGAREY INVITATIONAL

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's track and field team kicked off its outdoor season at the Don McGarey Invitational on the campus of Kennesaw State University on Friday and Saturday. 

 

Vince Giuliano kicked off the action on the track for the Tigers with a 10th place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.72 seconds.  Andrew Hudson finished in 29th place while Ben Tavares finished in 39th place.  In the field, Austin Kasap continues his impressive season as he finished sixth in the discus throw with a mark of 42.20 meters.  Kasap followed that up with a second-place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 47.96 meters.  The Tigers stood in tied for eighth place overall after the first day of action. 

 

On Saturday, the Tigers got off to a good start on the track.  The team of Giuliano, Jalen Dunnigan, Hudson, and Esau Haynes finished in sixth place in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 43.13 seconds. Giuliano then followed that up with an 11th place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.85.    In the 100-meter dash, Hudson finished in eighth-place with a time of 11.09. Haynes finished 12th in the race as well.  In the 800-meter run, Ethan Hodel crossed the finish line in fifth place with a time of 1:56.04.  The Tigers finished strong on the track as the team of Max Grant, Giuliano, Tavares, and Hodel finished in fourth in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:22.35.  Kasap picked up where he left off on Friday as he placed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 14.21 meters. 

 

The Tigers had a strong showing in the Don McGarey Invitational as they placed in tied for sixth with 30 points.
