ONU WRAPS CONFERENCE SLATE WITH STATEMENT 4-3 VICTORY OVER JUDSON

CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's tennis team concluded its conference slate with a statement 4-3 victory over Judson Tuesday afternoon at the Crystal Lake Tennis Club.

As they have all season, the Tigers relied on their stellar doubles play to stake an early 1-0 lead. Sanksar Choubey and Paul Saleh won the top match 7-6, Chatton Haws and Andres Viedma Diaz triumphed in the No. 2 match 6-3, and Davi Toledo and Hector Romero closed out the doubles sweep 6-2.

And the doubles point proved to be the difference maker as the two squads split the six singles matches. The Eagles (12-8, 1-2 CCAC), who entered the match ranked 10 spots ahead of ONU in the national rankings at No. 31, quickly claimed the lead after taking the top two singles matches

Toledo picked up a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 triumph at the No. 3 singles match. Choubey got the Tigers to match point with his 6-1, 2-6, 7-5 win in the No. 5 match, and Juan Banuls Diaz closed out the win with a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory in the final round.

The Tigers conclude the regular season with a 12-4 overall record, a seven-win improvement from a season ago, and a 3-1 CCAC mark. They will compete in the ITA Regionals before taking on the CCAC Tournament.
