BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Rain and hosting cross country meets seem to go hand-in-hand for the Olivet Nazarene University men's cross country team. It also seems to equate to titles, as the Tiger's captured the team title at the 2016 Illinois Intercollegiate Championship on Friday, Sept. 29, paced by Jeremy Brassard (SO/Strafford, N.H.) who captured the overall title. The 8k event was held at the rain soaked Aspen Ridge Golf Course in Bradley, Illinois.
Jeremy Brassard paced the Tiger contingency, capturing first place overall in the 216 runner field, crossing the finish line in 26:02.8. Wesley Meyer (FR/Rochester, Ind.) and Rylan Larkin finished back-to-back in third and fourth place, posting times of 26:22.8 and 26:23.0, respectively.
Rounding out the top five Olivet finishers was Mathew Meehan and Jason Reynolds (SR/Rockford, Ill.). Meehan, who finished 15th overall, finished in 26:47.7, while Reynolds crossed in 26:50.0 in 17th place.
Olivet led the 13 team field with 40 points, followed by Augustana College (Ill.) with 54 and North Central College (Ill.) with 58. The University of Chicago finished fourth with 84 points, with Aurora University fifth with 122.
Olivet will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Fighting Bees Invite hosted by Saint Ambrose University (Iowa). The event will be run at Crow Creek Park in Bettendorf, Iowa. The men's race is scheduled to start at 11:15 a.m.
